Volleyball Game Preview: Coventry Oakers vs. La Salle Academy Rams

Coventry hasn't had much luck against La Salle Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Oakers are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against the Rams at 6:30 p.m. Coventry will be strutting in after a win while La Salle Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Coventry took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Cranston East, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Oakers had just enough and edged out the Thunderbolts 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Oakers have posted against the Thunderbolts since April 12, 2022.

Coventry wouldn't go down easily and took Cranston East into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-21, 15-25, 19-25, 15-7.

Meanwhile, La Salle Academy came up short against Needham on Monday and fell 3-1. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Coventry's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for La Salle Academy, they now also have a losing record of 2-3.

Coventry skirted past La Salle Academy 3-2 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Oakers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
