Basketball Recap: South Haven Christian Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Central Baptist last Friday, South Haven Christian came back down to earth. South Haven Christian was just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 60-59 to the Franklin Road Christian Minutemen. If South Haven Christian was looking for revenge after losing 90-71 to Franklin Road Christian when the teams met back in February, then they'll just have to keep looking.

South Haven Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kade Atkinson, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists, and Trevor Steinbrook, who posted 18 points and three steals. Steinbrook is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Rush, who put up seven points.

Franklin Road Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wes Fuqua, who shot 54% from the field en route to 17 points along with seven assists and six steals. Matt Robinson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 15 boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, South Haven Christian fell to 2-1. As for Franklin Road Christian, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

South Haven Christian has already played their next matchup, a 69-61 victory against Varsity Opponent on the 2nd. As for Franklin Road Christian, they will square off against Riverside Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Minutemen will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 64.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
