Softball Recap: Sunny Hills Comes Up Short

Sunny Hills fell victim to Villa Park and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lancers of the 4-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

This is the second loss in a row for Sunny Hills and nudges their season record down to 8-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-6 La Habra (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 55.2% over those games). As for Villa Park, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9.

Sunny Hills and Villa Park could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Lancers will face off against Sonora at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (221 vs. 33). Meanwhile, Villa Park (ranked 200th) will meet La Habra (ranked 31st) at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
