Basketball Recap: Omaha Nation Comes Up Short

After flying high against Tekamah-Herman last Friday, Omaha Nation came back down to earth. The Omaha Nation Chiefs took a hard 65-47 fall against the Homer Knights on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Chiefs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Knights are ranked 28th).

It was another big night for Lilly Harris, who went 8 for 9 on her way to 22 points and six assists for Homer. With that strong performance, Harris is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Janessa Overgaard, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds.

Omaha Nation's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Homer, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

When Omaha Nation and Homer next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Omaha Nation will try to stop Oakland-Craig's nine-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Homer will try to stop Westwood's three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
