Softball Recap: Valley View Eagles vs. Lakeside Lancers
Valley View gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lakeside Lancers a 16-0 shutout. The Eagles have beaten the Lancers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lancers has come to flipping the script.
Bella Hernandez looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Valley View let Alyssa Torres and Destiny Mendoza loose on the outfield. Torres went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI, while Mendoza scored two runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most doubles Torres has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Barrios, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Valley View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeside only posted an OBP of .176.
Looking ahead, Valley View will be playing at home against Dana Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lakeside, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Moreno Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lakeside has now lost eight straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 16.
