Cambridge Christian is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Sarasota Christian is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lancers will welcome the Blazers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cambridge Christian proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Lemont. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lancers have posted since February 13th.
Cambridge Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braiden Price, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, while Sarasota Christian put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for The Classical Academy of Sarasota. The Blazers were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Patriots. The result was nothing new for the Blazers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Hayden Rogers made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Rogers was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Justin Brock was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Collin Lawson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases.
Cambridge Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sarasota Christian, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
Cambridge Christian beat Sarasota Christian 9-4 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Blazers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
