Football Game Preview: Calallen Wildcats vs. Rockport-Fulton Pirates + How To Watch

The Calallen Wildcats will square off against the Rockport-Fulton Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rockport-Fulton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Calallen, who comes in off a win.

Rockport-Fulton will be up against a hot Calallen team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Wildcats came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 26-21 W against Carroll.

Ricardo Rodrguez produced another solid performance rushing for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Connor Klostermann was another key player, throwing for 122 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Calallen was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 211 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 191 rushing yards in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Rockport-Fulton lost to Kinkaid at home by a 42-24 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 571st, while the Falcons are ranked 130th).

Defeat or not, Rockport-Fulton got some senior leadership from Jaxon Keown and Traey Alvarado. Keown gained 166 total yards and a touchdown, while Alvarado rushed for 107 yards and a pair of scores. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 76 yards.

Calallen's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Rockport-Fulton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Calallen has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 248.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Rockport-Fulton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 312.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything went Calallen's way against Rockport-Fulton when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Calallen made off with a 29-7 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
