Volleyball Game Preview: HEA Firebirds HomeSchool vs. Springfield Blue Devils

HEA Firebirds HomeSchool will head out on the road to square off against the Springfield Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

While HEA Firebirds HomeSchool fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Thursday's season opener. Everything went their way against Northview on Thursday as they made off with a 3-0 victory.

HEA Firebirds HomeSchool was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-20, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Springfield had already won six in a row and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They blew past the Spartans 3-0.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-16, 25-18.

HEA Firebirds HomeSchool better focus on containing Jonah Sheppard and Reed Schwieterman as the pair were huge in Springfield's win. Sheppard had seven digs and three aces, while Schwieterman had ten assists and nine aces. Sheppard is on a roll when it comes to aces, as he's now served two or more in each of the last seven games he's played.

Springfield was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Everything went HEA Firebirds HomeSchool's way against Springfield in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as HEA Firebirds HomeSchool made off with a 3-0 win. Will HEA Firebirds HomeSchool repeat their success, or does Springfield has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
