Baseball Recap: Mohawk Area Sets Scoring Season-High Against Sto-Rox

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mohawk Area). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Sto-Rox Vikings a 19-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Warriors have won four matches by more than 14 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Vinny Pezzuolo made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, Mohawk Area let Cash Stratton and Jackson Peters run wild. Stratton went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Peters went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Stratton is becoming a predictor of Mohawk Area's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Kamren O'Lare also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Mohawk Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Mohawk Area and bumps their season record up to 7-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Sto-Rox, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
