Basketball Game Preview: Lawrence North Wildcats vs. Lawrence Central Bears

Lawrence North and Lawrence Central are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Lawrence North Wildcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Lawrence Central Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lawrence North saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 62-35 win over Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Braves are ranked 154th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Naja Winston was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (six). Kya Hurt was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight steals and five assists.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Central put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 75-50 margin over Pike.

Lawrence Central pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.3 points. As for Lawrence North, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Lawrence North came up short against Lawrence Central in their previous matchup back in February, falling 61-54. Can Lawrence North avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
