Baseball Recap: Aztec Gets the Win

While Aztec's victory against Page wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Aztec narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Page 5-3. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Tyler Ray was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Aztec is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-10 otherwise. Ray was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 12 matches.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cory Douglas, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since March 7th. Jadyn Brooks was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Aztec's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Page, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Aztec Tigers duke it out with Bloomfield Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bloomfield's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Aztec's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Page, they will welcome Chinle at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Page's pitchers better be ready for this one: Chinle has averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
