Baseball Recap: Overton Beats Ore City for Their Fourth Straight Win

Overton barely beat Ore City the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 10-2 victory on Monday. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Bryce Still was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Bryson Bobbitt was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylan Holleman, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win (which was Overton's fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Ore City, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-6.

Coming up, Overton will be playing in front of their home fans against Union Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ore City, they will venture away from home to challenge Waskom at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
