Basketball Recap: Laurens Academy Comes Up Short

Laurens Academy was the 46-45 winner over New Covenant School when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Laurens Academy Crusaders fell 57-45 to the New Covenant School Cavaliers on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 43rd).

Laurens Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for New Covenant School, the win keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laurens Academy will welcome Oakbrook Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Covenant School, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Greenville Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. New Covenant School knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Greenville Classical Academy likes a good challenge.
