Baseball Recap: Valmeyer Comes Up Short

If Valmeyer was riding high fresh off their 10-2 takedown of Lebanon last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates lost 16-1 to the Waterloo Bulldogs on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost six in a row.

Valmeyer saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Blackwell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Valmeyer's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Waterloo, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valmeyer will host Lebanon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Waterloo, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Gibault Catholic at 10:00 a.m.
