Softball Recap: Thomas Walker Takes a Loss

Thomas Walker extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 28 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Twin Springs Titans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in April.

As for Twin Springs, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Twin Springs' part, Emma Ross and Makenzie Gillenwater made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ross struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Gillenwater pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Ross has posted since back in March. At the plate, Ross went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Gillenwater went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Meade, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Jayde Tomlinson was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one triple.

Coincidentally, Thomas Walker and Twin Springs will both be playing Eastside the next time they take the field. The Titans will head out to face the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Pioneers will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
