Basketball Game Preview: Cedar Shoals Jaguars vs. Walnut Grove Warriors

Cedar Shoals and Walnut Grove are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Cedar Shoals Jaguars just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Walnut Grove Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Shoals knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Walnut Grove likes a good challenge.

On Monday, Cedar Shoals lost to North Oconee at home by a 71-57 margin. The Jaguars have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Walnut Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They snuck past Madison County with a 59-55 win on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Walnut Grove's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 3-18. As for Cedar Shoals, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8.

Cedar Shoals didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Walnut Grove in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 56-50 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cedar Shoals since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
