Basketball Recap: Wheatland Pirates vs. Lindhurst Blazers
The Wheatland Pirates can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lindhurst 65-26 at home. The win was just what Wheatland needed coming off of a 66-30 loss in their prior game.
Wheatland had a senior duo take command as Tyler Thompson dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds and J cruz Ramirez dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thompson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kayden Glover, who scored five points along with five steals.
Wheatland's win ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-19. As for Lindhurst, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-23.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheatland will take on the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Marysville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Pirates in California (the Indians are ranked 561st, while the Pirates are ranked 1196th). As for Lindhurst, they will head out on the road to face off against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Center is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
