Baseball Game Preview: Lamar Raiders vs. Simpson Academy Cougars

For the second straight game, Lamar will face off against Simpson Academy. The Raiders will host the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lamar has three straight victories, Simpson Academy has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lamar took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Simpson Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Raiders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Cougars on Tuesday.

Sullivan Reed was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Whitcomb, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Lamar pushed their record up to 19-5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Simpson Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.
