Softball Recap: Metro Tech Takes a Loss

Metro Tech lost against Fairfax last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Metro Tech came up short against Fairfax, falling 29-19. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Stampede 7-3 in the first period.

Maria Mada was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mariaelena Velasquez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Metro Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Metro Tech has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. The victory (which was Fairfax's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Metro Tech will square off against rival Alhambra at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Fairfax is set to face off against their familiar foe McClintock at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
