Basketball Recap: Moffat Takes a Loss

Moffat lost against Cotopaxi back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Moffat Cowboys took a blow against the Cotopaxi Pirates, falling 60-25. The Cowboys' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

Despite the loss, Moffat saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kandra Pollard posted 19 points along with five boards and four steals. Pollard is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Cotopaxi was led to victory by Hayden Eggleston and Kelsey Teter. Eggleston dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds, while Teter dropped a double-double on 17 points and 21 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Eggleston a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josey Kaiser, who had seven points.

Moffat's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Cotopaxi, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.

Moffat didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 40-9 win against Antonito on the 7th. As for Cotopaxi, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 40-32 loss against Center on the 8th.
