Basketball Recap: Northmor Golden Knights vs. Mt. Gilead Indians
Northmor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mt. Gilead Indians. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-45 back in December of 2024.

Northmor's loss came despite strong showings from Claire Tackett and Ryann Brinkman. Tackett went 5 for 12 on her way to 15 points, while Brinkman posted four points in addition to seven boards and five assists. That's the most assists Brinkman has posted since back in December of 2023. Bella Smith was another key player, putting up three points and seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Northmor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Gilead only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Kendall Neal was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had nine points along with seven rebounds and six assists. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Faith White was another key player, posting eight points and eight rebounds.
Northmor's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Mt. Gilead, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Northmor will head out to take on East Knox at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mt. Gilead, they will face off against Centerburg at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
