Basketball Recap: Chicago Mathematics & Science vs. Mather Rangers
Chicago Mathematics & Science had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it six. They took a blow against the Mather Rangers, falling 44-10. The contest was a close 10-7 at the break, but unfortunately for Chicago Mathematics & Science it sure didn't stay that way.
As for Mather, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 24 points in those games.
Mather was led to victory by Temilade Yesufu and Kayrhianna Jackson. Yesufu posted 21 points and seven rebounds, while Jackson shot 45% from the field to rack up 11 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Yesufu has scored at least a third of the Rangers' points. Another player making a difference was Anita Shokoya, who had five points.
Coming up, Chicago Mathematics & Science will head out to challenge Rickover Naval at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Seadragons' defense has only allowed 26.7 points per game this season, so Chicago Mathematics & Science's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Mather, they will host Intrinsic at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
