Basketball Recap: Callaway Starts Season with Loss at Home

Callaway unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 52-51 to the Trinity Christian Lions. The Cavaliers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.

Despite the loss, Callaway still got an impressive performance from AHMAD ROBERTS, who posted nine points along with five assists and five rebounds. DEE HARRIS was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Trinity Christian's victory ended an 18-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Callaway will face off against Greenville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Trinity Christian, they will head out to take on Upson-Lee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 53 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
