Recap: Mt. Eden Monarchs vs. Washington Huskies

This season hasn't been kind to The Mt. Eden Monarchs, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They were dealt a 62-7 defeat at the hands of Washington on Saturday. Mt. Eden was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Washington apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.

Washington found their leader in underclassman Cameron Redd, who rushed for 256 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries. Redd was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. Another player making a difference was Esean Johnson, who rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.

Mt. Eden's defeat was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. As for Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 4-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Eden will take on Berkeley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Berkeley is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Washington, they will play host again and welcome Encinal, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Encinal comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
