Baseball Recap: Central Aroostook Takes a Loss

Central Aroostook had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-5 to make it four. They came up short against the Hodgdon Hawks, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 on Monday.

Central Aroostook saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trace Kinney, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Mitchell Burtt also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

As for Hodgdon, the win got them back to even at 3-3. Considering they have won three games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Hodgdon's side, Michael Fitzpatrick made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Fitzpatrick also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hodgdon is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. Fitzpatrick was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Hodgdon got a big performance out of David Tuttle, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Landon Botting, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Central Aroostook has already played their next match (against Ashland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Hodgdon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-5 victory against Wisdom on the 14th.
