Recap: McIntosh Demons vs. Leroy Bears
The McIntosh Demons came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Leroy 71-56. Given McIntosh's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Leroy is ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leroy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ray Phillips, who scored 21 points along with three steals. Phillips has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Taylor Crumedy was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five steals.
McIntosh's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Leroy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McIntosh will square off against Bayshore Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Leroy, they will head out on the road to face off against Fruitdale at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Fruitdale comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
