Basketball Recap: River Mill Takes a Loss

River Mill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against the Clover Garden School Grizzlies, falling 56-34. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Jaguars have suffered against the Grizzlies since February 13, 2020.

Leading Clover Garden School to victory were Charlie Castaneda and Ethan Saunders. Castaneda dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards, while Saunders dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Castaneda a new career-high in points. Brayden DeAlto was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

River Mill's record is now 2-20. As for Clover Garden School, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.

When River Mill and Clover Garden School next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. River Mill will challenge Southern Wake Academy and their three-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Clover Garden School will try to stop Chatham Charter's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
