Raton and Springer are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Raton Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Springer Red Devils at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with 22 losses in a row dating back to last season, Raton finally turned things around against Varsity Opponent on Saturday. They breezed by Varsity Opponent to the tune of 55-8. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, Springer hadn't done well against Clayton recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Springer blew past Clayton 50-30. The win was just business as usual for the Red Devils, who after three games remain undefeated this season.
Springer pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points per game. As for Raton, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
