Basketball Game Preview: Tonawanda Timberwolves vs. Depew Wildcats

The Tonawanda Timberwolves will kick their season off against the Depew Wildcats on Friday. Tip off is scheduled at 6:30 p.m.

Depew is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against West Seneca West on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Depew came up short against West Seneca West, falling 76-52. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Warhawks: they've now lost three in a row.

Depew's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-1.

As for Tonawanda, they've got a clean slate this season. Last year, they finished on the right side of .500 (3-2), and they're hoping to kick off an even more successful campaign this year.

Tonawanda lost to Depew on the road by a decisive 56-39 margin in their previous meeting back in March of 2021. Can Tonawanda avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
