Football Game Preview: Llano Yellowjackets vs. Luling Eagles

Llano has gone a perfect 7-0 against Luling recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Yellowjackets will venture away from home to take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Luling took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Llano, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Llano against Florence as the squad secured a 58-7 win. That 51 point margin sets a new team best for the Yellowjackets this season.

It was another big night for Luke Davis, who threw for 199 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 39 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (163.2). Jose Sillas was another key player, rushing for 87 yards and one TD on only five carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Llano was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 273 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Florence only rushed for 119.

Meanwhile, Luling was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by Marion and fell 49-0.

The victory made it two in a row for Llano and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 points in those games. As for Luling, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything came up roses for Llano against Luling when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 49-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
