The Satellite Scorpions are taking a road trip to face off against the Vero Beach Indians at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Satellite is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
Satellite made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Scorpions were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Tigers on Thursday. The game was the first time the Scorpions have beaten the Tigers on their field since April 4, 2016.
Stella Capps looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Karalyn Webb, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Michaella Gaskins, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Satellite was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Vero Beach lost 7-1 to Moore Haven on Friday. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Vero Beach saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Sims, who went 3-for-4 with one double. That double marked the first that Sims hit this season.
The win made it two in a row for Satellite and bumps their season record up to 12-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Vero Beach, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Vero Beach's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Satellite hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .408. It's a different story for Vero Beach, though, as they've only averaged .257. Will they be able to contain Satellite's hitters?
