Basketball Preview: West Mecklenburg Hawks vs. Hopewell Titans
West Mecklenburg hasn't had much luck against Hopewell recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The West Mecklenburg Hawks will look to defend their home court against the Hopewell Titans at 6:00 p.m.
West Mecklenburg is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game on Wednesday. They fell 60-48 to Hopewell. One positive for the Hawks, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
West Mecklenburg better focus on containing MOLLY HOWE and JUNE WALLACE as the pair were huge in Hopewell's win. HOWE went 10 for 16 on her way to 21 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds, while WALLACE dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 boards. What's more, HOWE also racked up three steals, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was KRISTYN TROUTMAN, who posted 12 points and five boards.
Hopewell's win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-15. As for West Mecklenburg, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.
