Basketball Recap: New Bern Takes a Loss

New Bern lost against D.H. Conley back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The New Bern Bears came up short against the D.H. Conley Vikings, falling 55-29. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 425th, while the Vikings are ranked 124th).

Britni Silver was her usual excellent self, going 10 of 15 to rack up 23 points in addition to five boards and four steals for D.H. Conley. The game was Silver's third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Charlazha Wilson, who posted 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

New Bern's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-18. As for D.H. Conley, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Coming up, New Bern will head out on the road to face off against Havelock at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for D.H. Conley, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against South Central at 6:00 p.m. South Central will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something D.H. Conley surely won't give up without a fight.
