Anoka is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Andover is on a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Tornadoes will welcome the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Anoka will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Friday, then bounced right back against Coon Rapids on Tuesday. The Tornadoes put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 14-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Tornadoes in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won nine in a row.
Maddy Freking was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Sophia Engelter was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Anoka always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, while Andover put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Robbinsdale Armstrong. The Huskies blew past the Falcons 10-0.
Megan Surgenor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Stock, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Laci Heppell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Andover's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Anoka, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Anoka hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Andover struggles in that department as they've averaged .481. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Anoka couldn't quite finish off Andover when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Will the Tornadoes have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
