Basketball Recap: Saint Stephen's Episcopal Falcons vs. Northside Christian Mustangs

The Saint Stephen's Episcopal Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 49-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northside Christian. If Saint Stephen's Episcopal was looking for revenge after losing 51-42 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Saint Stephen's Episcopal lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nick Yatros. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Yatros continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Li, who scored 12 points.

Northside Christian found their leader in underclassman Elijah Ahlers, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ahlers has scored at least a third of Northside Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Rhett Iglinski, who scored ten points.

Saint Stephen's Episcopal dropped their record down to 5-18 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Northside Christian, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-17.

Saint Stephen's Episcopal will take on the Faith Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bayshore Christian is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Northside Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Calvary Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Mustangs in Florida (the Warriors are ranked 209th, while the Mustangs are ranked 620th).
