Serena scored the most runs they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Earlville Red Raiders by a score of 11-10. The Huskers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Carter Meyer was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Payton Twait was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tucker Whiteaker, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Serena's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Earlville, their victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7.

While Serena had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
