Football Game Preview: Hominy Bucks vs. Barnsdall Panthers

The Hominy Bucks will venture away from home to take on the Barnsdall Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Hominy's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last five games.

Hominy's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave last Thursday, when they got past Fairland's usually-dominant defense. The Bucks strolled past the Owls with points to spare, taking the game 36-20. The Bucks haven't had any issues with the Owls recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Barnsdall on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Afton out of the water with a 40-6 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Panthers had established a 22-point advantage.

Hominy better keep an eye on Lincoln Gott. He was instrumental in Barnsdall's win, rushing for 172 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Gott is becoming a predictor of the Panthers' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 4-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

Barnsdall was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 285 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 243 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Barnsdall didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jacob Clark and Tripp Barbee. Barnsdall received some extra help from Talon Bond, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Hominy's record now sits at 5-2. As for Barnsdall, their record is now 5-3.

Everything came up roses for Hominy against Barnsdall in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 41-6 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Panthers' Maverick Lanphear, who rushed for 156 yards, and also threw for 176 yards and one TD.
