Football Recap: Ogallala Comes Up Short

Ogallala lost against Gering back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Indians were outmatched by the Bulldogs and fell 41-7. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Edan Cain threw for 125 yards while completing 73.7% of his passes. Rhys Gilmore was his top target, picking up 71 receiving yards. On the ground, Kolby Nowak rushed for 57 yards and one score.

Gering's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rece Knight, who threw for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Knight a new career-high in passer rating (142.9). Gabe Milton got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Ogallala's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Gering, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Ogallala and Gering will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Indians are set to face off against their familiar foe Chadron at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Gering will take on rival McCook at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
