Bullitt Central is 0-3 against Oldham County since April of 2015 but things could change on Monday. Bullitt Central is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Oldham County at 5:30 p.m. Bullitt Central is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
Bullitt Central took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Campbellsville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Bullitt Central had just enough and edged out Campbellsville 6-5.
Mason Burton was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Cole Halbrook also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Bullitt Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oldham County). They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Franklin County on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Hayden Keiswetter looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Oldham County let Josiah McCall and Noah Stinson run wild. McCall scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Stinson got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Edsell, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Bullitt Central's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Oldham County, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bullitt Central has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .520. However, it's not like Oldham County struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bullitt Central came up short against Oldham County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 19-16. Can Bullitt Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
