Volleyball Recap: Liberty-Benton Comes Up Short

After flying high against Paulding last Thursday, Liberty-Benton came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Otsego Knights by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2019.

Liberty-Benton actually scored more points across those five sets (108-99), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 12-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-13.

Despite the loss, Liberty-Benton still got an impressive performance from Maddy Amstutz, who had 25 digs and two aces. Amstutz has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more digs the last nine times she's played.

Otsego found their leader in sophomore Sophia Borer, who had 16 digs.

Liberty-Benton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-8 record this season. As for Otsego, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Liberty-Benton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Otsego, they will take on Willard in a tournament on Thursday.
