Baseball Recap: Boyne Falls Takes a Loss

Boyne Falls extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-8 in the process. They came up short against the Ellsworth Lancers, falling 16-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 on Tuesday.

Boyne Falls saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was George Gerred, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Ellsworth, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6. The contest marked their most dominant win of the season.

On Ellsworth's side, Skyler Seeney was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Seeney also tossed no walks, which is notable because Ellsworth is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-5 otherwise. Seeney was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Seeney is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Cameron Snyder was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Max Muladore was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Boyne Falls will square off against Forest Area at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Loggers are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Ellsworth, they will take on St. Mary Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
