Recap: North Kissimmee Christian Lions vs. Celebration Storm
The North Kissimmee Christian Lions had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They managed a 67-61 victory over Celebration. Given North Kissimmee Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Celebration is ranked 653rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Izaiah Noel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with five rebounds and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Pourchons Morisseau, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Celebration's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ricardo Baro, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Baro continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendley Jean, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.
North Kissimmee Christian is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Celebration, they bumped their record down to 3-11 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road.
North Kissimmee Christian will be playing at home against Bridge to Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bridge to Independence is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.5 points per game. Celebration won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Santa Fe at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. Santa Fe has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
