Volleyball Recap: Shadyside Starts Season with Win at Home

Shadyside took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Bridgeport Bulldogs with a sharp 3-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Shadyside took every set by at least 14 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-11, 25-8.

Shadyside had a senior duo take command as Ali Weatherson had 18 assists and five aces and Aubrey Nippert had nine kills, three digs, three aces, and one block. Sophie Boltz was another key player, getting four aces.

Shadyside was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 19 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Shadyside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Bellaire on the 18th. As for Bridgeport, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on St. Clairsville at 6:30 p.m. on the 26th.
