Volleyball Game Preview: Ryle Raiders vs. Holy Cross Indians

Ryle is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Holy Cross is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Raiders will host the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Ryle is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Great Crossing, who was ranked 24th at the time (Ryle was ranked 14th). The Raiders fell just short of the Warhawks by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Raiders' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Ryle actually scored more points across those five sets (114-96), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 16-25, 29-27, 26-24, 10-25, 15-13.

Despite the defeat, Ryle had strong showings from Ria Furuta, who had 13 digs and three aces, and Francesca Hansel, who had ten digs and two aces. Furuta has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last eight times she's played.

Meanwhile, Holy Cross beat Lawrenceburg 3-1 on Monday.

Holy Cross' win bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Ryle, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11.

Everything went Ryle's way against Holy Cross in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, as Ryle made off with a 3-0 victory. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
