Baseball Recap: Niles West Comes Up Short

After soaring to ten runs the game before, Niles West was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Vernon Hills Cougars by a score of 2-1. The Wolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 10-2.

Teddy Schroeder was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

Niles West's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Vernon Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-13 record this season.

While Niles West had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
