Basketball Game Preview: East Carter Raiders vs. Elliott County Lions

Having just played yesterday, the East Carter Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Elliott County Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (East Carter has six straight wins, Elliott County has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Thursday, East Carter earned a 64-56 victory over Fleming County.

East Carter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kinsley Rutledge out in front who went 6 of 10 on her way to 17 points. Tori Bishop was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Elliott County was beaten by Pike County Central 52-17 on Saturday.

East Carter's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Elliott County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

East Carter couldn't quite finish off Elliott County in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 36-34. Can East Carter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
