Basketball Game Preview: Victory Christian Academy Knights vs. Montgomery Aztecs

The Victory Christian Academy Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Montgomery Aztecs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Victory Christian Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 72-49 margin over Mater Dei Catholic.

Meanwhile, Montgomery strolled past Francis Parker with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 71-56. Given the Aztecs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Lancers are ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Victory Christian Academy has also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Montgomery, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2.

Victory Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Montgomery in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, winning 62-54. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Montgomery's JJ Sanchez, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 rebounds.
