Volleyball Recap: Springstead's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but Springstead unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-match winning streak on Friday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sickles Gryphons. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Gryphons when the teams met back in September of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The final score came out to 25-13, 25-21.

Paloma Verde paced Springstead's offense, picking up four kills. Verde got some help from Mackenna Chambers and her seven assists. Chambers was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Leading Sickles to victory were Gabbi Colmenares-Salas and Ava Montagna. Colmenares-Salas had nine digs and one assist, while Montagna had eight assists.

Springstead's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Sickles, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-12.

Springstead didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Cypress Creek on the 4th. As for Sickles, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Nature Coast Tech on the 4th.
