Basketball Recap: Vandalia Christian Takes a Loss

Vandalia Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 63-27 loss at the hands of the Union Grove Christian Patriots. The matchup marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Vandalia Christian lost, don't look at Chase Buie. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points. Izzi Settle was another key player, putting up seven points.

It was another big night for Colin Wykes, who went 12 of 19 en route to 29 points and five assists for Union Grove Christian. Another player making a difference was Garrett Trinkle, who earned 11 points in addition to eight boards and six steals.

Vandalia Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Union Grove Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 27-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vandalia Christian will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tabernacle Christian at 7:30 p.m. on February 10th. Union Grove Christian will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Liberty Christian at 6:30 p.m. on February 11th. Union Grove Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season.
