Softball Recap: Seffner Christian Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Seffner Christian walked away with it. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Foundation Christian Academy Panthers on Tuesday. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Allison Baston was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Tenley Newman was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eliana Serrano, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Seffner Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foundation Christian Academy only posted a batting average of .227.

Seffner Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Foundation Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.

Coming up, Seffner Christian will take on Lakeland Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight. Foundation Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
